Tóparti Galéria is situated a stone’s throw from the Lake Balaton shore with stunning views. The nearby pier is the filming location of the popular TV summertime morning show Nyár on Duna TV.
It would be quite impossible to list all the artists who have had their work showcased throughout the decades. Every summer, six different exhibitions are opened consecutively two weeks after one another, the openings feature professional artistic productions. Visitors from all over Hungary, Europe and internationally love to visit this scenic area and catch the latest exhibition.
Opening live music performed by Zoltán Lantos
Zoltán is a renowned Hungarian master violinist who is known for his atmospheric style and improvisation. I’m absolutely honored that he’s playing at my exhibition opening.
His parents and grandparents wanted him to play the violin so he’s been playing since he was six years old. Donned highly talented by his teachers, his interest in jazz and improvisation started in his teens, which led him to the freedom within his own musical universe that he enjoys today.
He moved to India in 1985 and spent nine years learning about Indian spirituality and its connection to music. Upon returning he began his work fusing that knowledge with his musical roots and exploring all other musical aspects to arrive at his current musical style. He plays the Tarangini - an Indian five string violin with secondary strings for giving an echoing effect.
Watch from 12:30 mins to see Zoltán’s captivating performance on the Friderikusz Podcast against the backdrop of the evening Budapest skyline. Just mesmerizing.
Zoltán has played with many world music stars and collaborates with and in such a diverse array of musicians and genres. One of which is Óperentzia, who he will be playing with in nearby Salföld after my opening. Find out more about that concert here.
